The completely newly developed H0 model of the class 119/219 was derived, analogous to the prototype, from the clear, robust and functionally reliable design of the V 180 from PIKO. However, since this was done with design consistency and high manufacturing quality, no PIKO model railroader (like the DR locomotive engineers in their day) need fear for the reliability of his 119/219. On the contrary: Thanks to the powerful engine with precisely balanced flywheels, the PIKO model of the 119/219 convinces with balanced running and considerable tractive power. The shape and color design of the locomotive, called "submarine" because of its portholes, is not inferior to its precision mechanics. PIKO supplies both the older version with the protruding roof and the integrated top light above the front windows as well as the successor series without the protruding roof with the third top light below the cab windows in all color variants known from DR and DB AG.
